Anna Frankel

Anna holds a graduate degree in Psychology from New York University with a concentration in Community Mental Health as well as Doctoral degree credits in Public Administration from SUNY Albany. She has experience in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Firmly committed to the principles of Social Justice Anna devoted most of her career to the development and expansion of a community based Clinic serving people with Developmental Disabilities through The Arc of the Greater Hudson Valley in order to provide them with equitable access to needed services. The Clinic continues to be a vital resource for Behavioral Health services in the community and has throughout the years also been a vibrant internship site for students seeking careers in Psychology and Social Work. During her tenure as Director Anna was also committed to recruiting and hiring staff with a range of therapeutic orientations that understood the benefits of creative therapeutic approaches to treat a population that frequently experiences adversity and may not have the ability or insight to express themselves in words. It was through this process that she initially met Beth Coons and heard her vision to start a not-for-profit dedicated to fostering resilience in children. Anna understands the impact of toxic stress on people and how this can create challenges in adulthood as well as a cycle of trauma for future generations. Upon her retirement in 2019 she found involvement with The Resilient Child Fund to be a perfect opportunity to utilize her skills in support of an organization sharing her belief that all people, especially children that have suffered adverse experiences and trauma, need to be understood and nurtured in order to create the resilience needed to become physically and emotionally healthy adults.
